Take a return or give a refund

1. 1Open Sales and find the original sale — by receipt number, or by the date and the amount.
2. 2Press Return and tick the items coming back. A customer returning one thing out of five returns one thing, not the sale.
3. 3Choose how you are refunding: cash from the drawer, or against their credit if they owe you.
4. 4Hand over the refund and give them the return receipt.

Refunding straight from the drawer without recording it is the single most damaging habit in a shop. The stock does not come back, the day close comes up short, and by the end of the month neither you nor your staff can explain the gap.
