Record an expense
Rent, electricity, staff wages, the van — enter them as they happen, because profit is sales minus cost minus these, and a shop that skips them only thinks it knows what it earns.
- 1Open Expenses and press Add an expense.
- 2Choose a category — rent, utilities, wages, transport — and enter the amount and date.
- 3Say how it was paid, so the cash that left the drawer is accounted for.
- 4Add a note or a photo of the bill if there is one.
Cash paid out of the till for an expense is the commonest reason a day close comes up short. Record it as an expense when you take it and the drawer balances.
