The receipt printer is not printing
Nine times out of ten it is the paper roll in backwards, a loose USB cable, or the printer picked up as the wrong device — check those three before anything else.
- 1Open the printer and check the paper roll. Thermal paper prints on one side only — if the receipt comes out blank, the roll is in the wrong way round. Turn it over.
- 2Press the feed button on the printer itself. If no paper moves, the problem is the printer or its power, not PoedApp.
- 3Check the USB cable at both ends, and that the printer light is steady rather than blinking.
- 4In PoedApp, open Settings, then Receipt and printing, and press Print a test page.
A receipt that prints faint or fades within days means cheap paper, not a broken printer. Thermal paper has a shelf life, and a faded receipt is a problem when a customer returns something.
Still nothing after a test page? Send us a photo of the printer and its model number and we will tell you in minutes whether it is a setting or a dead unit.
