The barcode scanner is not reading
The scanner types like a keyboard, so if it beeps but nothing appears, the problem is where the cursor is — not the scanner.
- 1Scan something while the sale screen is open. The scanner behaves like a keyboard, so it types wherever the cursor is — if another window is in front, the barcode goes there instead.
- 2If the scanner does not beep at all, try a different USB port, then a different cable.
- 3If it beeps but the wrong number appears, the scanner is set to a different keyboard layout. Scan the "US keyboard" setup barcode in the scanner manual.
- 4If it reads some packets and not others, the barcode may be damaged or a type the scanner does not handle — a 1D scanner cannot read QR codes.
You do not need to click into a box before scanning. The sale screen listens for the scanner all the time.
